Information will flow from Meditech into the BORN Information System (BIS).
Patient information will flow and start the BIS encounter. The patient's information will populate from both the mother and infant chart.
The end user will complete the BORN interventions in Meditech.
When the intervention is saved, the completed queries will flow to the BIS. If the end user has completed all of the required questions, when the BIS is accessed, that encounter will be completed.
Every time the BORN intervention is saved, this information will flow to the BIS. This is important if an end user opens the BORN intervention and adds additional information and resaves the intervention without the previous information. In the example below, the BIS encounter will reflect that the Prenatal education query has not been completed.

MODE View to Chart
When the end user is adding additional information into a BORN intervention that has previously been saved, it is recommended that the end user views the intervention in the column mode by selecting the MODE button. This will change the view of the intervention and allow the end user to see the previous documentation and ensure that it remains when they resave the intervention.

Charting Multiple Interventions
When documenting the BORN interventions when the interface is active, the end user cannot have multiple interventions selected during their documentation session. The BORN intervention must be opened individually and saved. If the end user selects multiple interventions along with the BORN intervention, completes documentation and saves, the information will NOT flow to the BIS from the BORN intervention. The nurse will be required to open the BORN intervention again and resave it as a stand alone selection.

Editing Charting
Using the EDIT feature to add information to a BORN intervention that has previously been completed will not flow to BORN and will cause a blank entry flowing into the BIS and overwrite all previous data and cause the BORN encounter not complete. If additional information needs to be documented, use the NOW column and document the intervention with the new information.
Checking the BORN Encounter in the BIS
The end user will still be required to access the BIS to ensure that the encounter has been completed. This will show with the green checkmark on the BIS chart of the patient. If there is a red flag, the required queries have not been completed. The end user can see what entries are not completed and return to Meditech and complete the required queries.
