PPR Request for BBK
Definition: A PPR Request is an order the nurse or doctor puts in Order Management. It is an electronic request for blood bank product pickup and will display in the blood bank specimen tracking.
- Check BBK specimen tracking to monitor PPR requests.
2. Once in your pending tracker you can acknowledge the request by receiving the specimen number in the Receive routine located on the right side of your specimen desktop.
3. Once received, the specimen will auto complete since the fields are filled out in the CDS from Order Management. The nurse or doctor will fill in which product they are requesting, where to send the product and what extension to call. The internal inquiry will also show patient information based on the CDS (i.e if they are actively bleeding).
4. Open the internal inquiry to see the request. Below is a screenshot of the inquiry for the request.
5. Once the unit of blood is sent to the floor, the nurse can initiate TAR.
